The CLIF BAR Pace Team is excited to be the “official” Pace Team of the Long Beach Marathon! They are looking forward to helping runners of all abilities achieve their Marathon goals! If you want to run with a leader who knows how to keep even splits, get you to the finish within two minutes UNDER chip time, and enjoy the camaraderie of a group working together towards a common goal, the CLIF BAR Pace Team is for you!
How It Works:
It's simple! Each Pace Leader will run even splits (every mile will be run in the same amount of time) throughout the marathon, and by following your Pace Team leader, you'll cross the line under two minutes of your goal finishing time. During the race, your Pace Team leader will also remind you to drink and eat, as well as offer words of encouragement.
We'll have Pace Teams for the following finish times: 3:10, 3:20, 3:30, 3:40, 3:50, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 5:00, and 5:30.
Free Clif Bar Training Kit:
Signing up to run with one of the groups is easy. Plus each registrant will be mailed a training kit, which includes sample CLIF BAR products as well as some useful training tips. Just fill out the online registration form http://www.clifbar.com/play/pace_team/
and you’ll receive your training kit in 4-6 weeks. At the Expo you should plan to visit the CLIF BAR booth. Pace Leaders will be last-minute tips and free Pace Bands. The Pace Band, by the way, as a secondary way to view the mile splits needed to meet your goal time. All of this is FREE to all registered marathoners!
Meet Your Pacer: You can meet your Pace Team leader before the race at the marathon expo. Ask them about their marathoning backgrounds, how they fuel themselves during the race, and any other helpful tips you'd like to know from runners who've run more marathons in a year than most will run in their lives.
Race Day: At the expo, we'll let you know where we'll be meeting on race morning. You'll see us lined up according to pace and holding signs up with the finish times. Just fall in with your group. That's all. No check in, no sign in, just meet us, and follow your Pace Leader to your best marathon ever!
