The following information is provided for Long Beach Residents and/or visitors to see if their neighborhood street is being closed or what detours to take to get to certain areas of the city. Please allow yourself plenty of time on race day to get where you are going due to the road closures and slow traffic in some areas.
Note to Belmont Shore residents:
If you live South of Division or 1st Street, you can park for FREE in the beach lots South of Ocean Blvd. at NO CHARGE. You will have access OUT of this lot at the Granada Exit ONLY on race day. Police officers will escort cars out of the lot when there are breaks in the race.
Peninsula residents can take Ocean Blvd. to Bayshore, turn right on Bayshore, turn right on 2nd Street and turn left on Pacific Coast Highway to get out of the area on race day:

Ingress and Egress Routes:
Belmont Shore, Peninsula, and Naples areas:
Egress: Take 2nd Street east and proceed over the 2nd Street Bridge. Continue to Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). PCH is open both north and south of 2nd Street. The freeway can be accessed using 2nd Street to Studbaker or PCH North to 7th Street.
Egress For residents who are on the Peninsula: You may exit your area by proceeding west on Ocean Blvd. to 54th Street. From there you will go to Bayshore Ave. and proceed to 2 nd Street, where you will be able to use the above directions to proceed out of the area.
Ingress: To re-enter the Belmont Shore, Naples and Peninsula areas:Take the 405 or 605 freeways to the 7th Street exit. Proceed west on 7th Street to Bellflower. Make a left on Bellflower and another left on to PCH. Proceed south on PCH to 2nd Street and turn right (west) on 2nd Street to return to the area. This area can also be accessed by exiting onto Studebaker from 7th Street. Turn left on Studebaker and right on 2nd Street. Follow 2nd Street into the Naples/Belmont Shore areat. For people who live on the Peninsula, you may re-access that area by turning left onto Bayshore Ave and left again on Ocean Blvd.
Ocean Blvd. between Alamitos and Termino:
Egress: Take Ocean Blvd east (one lane will be open for vehicular traffic) and proceed to Granada. There will be a police officer at this location to direct you left onto Granada. Take Granada to 2nd Street.
Take 2 nd Street east and proceed over the 2nd Street Bridge. Continue to Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Take PCH north and proceed to 7th Street. Turn right (east) on 7th Street which will lead to the freeway.
Ingress: For those wishing to return to the area, it is highly recommended that you utilize the 710 freeway and exit either Anaheim or Broadway and use surface streets to get as close to your desired location as possible. Please park on or near 1st Street as vehicular traffic will be prohibited to re-enter the area.
Belmont Heights :
Egress: Avoid traveling east of Livingston. You may utilize Broadway, 3rd Street or 7th Street (west only). You may utilize Ximeno or Termino to head north towards alternative freeway routes or towards the 710 freeway. It is our recommendation, that if you are not planning to attend marathon day events or you have no plans to be in the downtown area, to avoid the 710 freeway and use either 405 or 605 access routes.
Ingress: To return the area, you may take the 405 freeway and exit Lakewood Blvd. From there, utilize surface streets to return to the area. You may use the Traffic Circle, however, access on to PCH will be closed. You may also use the 710 freeway and exit either Broadway or Anaheim and proceed east to your desired location.
Northeast Long Beach (west of Studebaker, north of Anaheim, east of Clark):
Egress: The best ways to leave these areas is via freeway access. It is our recommendation that the 405 freeway be utilized. You may access the 405 freeway at Bellflower and Willow, Palo Verde and Stearns, and on Studebaker just north of Atherton.
Ingress: You may utilize the same freeway access to return to the area. You may also utilize the exit on Studebaker from the 405.
Atherton (east of Clark):
Egress: The east bound lanes of Atherton will be open to traffic to Bellflower. Residents may leave the area by turning right on Bellflower and proceeding to 7th Street where they may turn east to reach freeway access.
Ingress: To return to the area, take the 7th Street exit off the freeway and continue to Bellflower. Turn north on Bellflower and then east on Atherton to return to the area.
University Park Estates
Egress: Due to the course change, all lanes of Studebaker will remain open. Residents can reach the freeway via 7th Street or by using Loynes Drive to Studebaker. Access to PCH (north and south) will also be available using 2nd Street or Loynes.
Ingress: You may utilize the same freeway access to return to the area. You may also utilize the exit on Studebaker from the 405.
- Please allow extra time for travel because of the street closures and traffic delays.
- The marathon course has a “rolling” reopening. The Police will reopen streets as the event goes on and participants have moved past a certain area.
- FREE PARKING FOR BELMONT SHORE RESIDENTS is available in the beach parking lots along Ocean. Enter the lots near the Belmont Pool and park for free Saturday night through Sunday. Residents can exit the lots on Sunday at GRANADA ONLY and be escorted across the race course out by police.
