Shock Top Belgian White Ale to Sponsor the Long Beach International City Bank Marathon

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Race officials today announced that Shock Top Belgian White Ale has become a product sponsor of the Long Beach International City Bank Marathon for a three-year term. Shock Top will become the named sponsor of the Beach Bum Club, a program that rewards participants with a VIP experience for having run the Long Beach Full or Half Marathon for 3-years in a row. “We continually strive to make the event better for participants.  Shock Top’s involvement really helps to provide a VIP experience for our loyal Long Beach runners.  We’re extremely excited to have them involved for the benefit of the participants,” said event producer and CEO of Run Racing, Bob Seagren. Shock Top shakes up the traditional tastes by brewing a spiced Belgian-style wheat ale with real orange, lemon and lime peels, and then added a little coriander spice to the mix.  This uniquely-crafted and award-winning ale is unfiltered to create a brew that is naturally cloudy with a light golden color and a smooth, refreshing finish.

Various flavors of Shock Top Belgian White Ales will be featured inside the Beach Bum Club at the Finish Line.  As part of their VIP experience, Beach Bum Club members will be able to sample and enjoy Shock Top after they successfully finish their race.  According to Anheuser Busch spokesperson, Matt Duncan, “Shock Top is all about living life unfiltered. We’re proud to be the sponsor of the event Beach Bum Club and reward all the loyal runners who have completed the Full or Half for the past 3 years.”

Approximately 25,000 runners and cyclists are expected to participate in the full marathon, half marathon, VW Think Blue Bike Tour and 5K on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 along with 2,000 children taking part in The Aquarium of the Pacific Kids One-Mile Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 12. An estimated 50,000 people attend the two-day Health and Fitness Expo while and additional 50,000 attend the Finish Line Festival. The event has raised and donated over $4 million to its official charities since 2005.
